Cafe Scientifique

The Pittsburgh Technology Council is starting a new series of get-togethers called Cafe Scientifique. Affiliated with the international organization that started having these gatherings in the UK, the local chapter will be holding monthly gatherings at the Penn Brewery, where (as they say):
The Cafe is a place where anyone interested in science can get together in an informal setting and discuss major science issues with the help of an expert in the field. It is free and open to the public. Best of all, it is not a lecture! After a brief introduction by our guest speaker (in plain, jargon-free English), the evening is dedicated to informal discussion, eating, and drinking. We'll all learn a lot while enjoying the company of accomplished scientists and other people who are interested in science.

The first Pittsburgh gathering is next Monday, with the subject: Aspiring to the Fountain of Youth: The Realistic Promise of Medical Robotics and Tissue Engineering. Well, the subject matter doesn't sound like my kind of thing, but I know my discussions of popular culture and Neil Gaiman fangirl-y-ness at Geek Night don't work for everybody, either.
