Party time

So I went to the Pittsburgh BlogFest! last night and oh the fun. Everybody was nice and fun and I am apparently the geekiest person Cindy ever met. I love that. Anyway, we talked about the coming-soon Pittsburgh blog aggregation page (though Wojo was not there to discuss with us, which made us sad :< ), we had food and beverages, and there was a whole lot of knitting.

And thank goodness there was knitting and knitting talk, because I needed help and I got it. Now I was so lame that I forgot to bring my knitting, but I was able to describe The Tragedy without actually needing the work. See, the lacy shawl that I was so pleased to start a few weeks ago? I messed up. I was talking and knitting and watching Return of the King again (Hush up. It's not like you people don't have issues.), and I got thrown off from the pattern in one row, and then the next row I ended up with an extra stitch and now that lace will never look nice. I uploaded a picture here, so you can see how I did the first area of yo, p2tog okay, but then screwed up the second. I thought for sure that I was going to have to tear the whole thing out. But! the experienced knitters told me that I might be able to put a string through the last good row and recover to that point. I'm going to try it. Even if that doesn't work, I learned that I can put a string through at periodic spots in the future to checkpoint the work. Hurray for Pittsburgh Blogging Knitters. I may tear it out anyway just because that picture exposes the very poor cast-on that I did (I did much better with the endless scarf).

And because this is in fact a blog, and we do need links, I present (via Just one more row) the Knitting Progress Tracker, allowing all the world to monitor your progress or lack of same. If this was a true Knitting Blog, and not a Random Crap Blog, and if I could knit that many things at once, I would totally have one of those on my site. Maybe I'll put one up at kristoff.org anyway.
