This, that, and the other

So yeah, I was away for a few days, and then I was lazy, and so we have some catching up to do. I couldn't decide what to blog, so here is a little of this and that to get me back in the swing of things. First, I have blogged before about the very exciting quinces that we had growing in our garden. Today was harvest day:
They look a little skanky, but that's just because they're not over-chemicaled corporate quinces

Even as we speak, quince paste is cooking in the kitchen.

In other news, let's pretend this is a knitting blog. On the theory that publicly blogging about my knitting (like the fabulous Anne does) will keep me moving forward on my projects, here is the Hogwarts scarf I am knitting for my husband, and may be for the rest of my life:
I'm not using any of the Hogwarts House colors since they don't match my husband's coat. He would be a Hufflepuff were he a wizard, though.

Also, I started this shawl, which as you can see, is just getting started. I may be the slowest knitter on this planet, though I've noticed the lacey part goes pretty fast in terms of time per inches created. Pattern is from Shawls and Scarves: The Best of Knitter's Magazine - Grandma's Checkerboard Lace, which it may one day resemble.
My first lacey thing. It takes concentration to do the lacey part.

Lastly, cat blogging. Not much I can say about this, except: It's good to be the cat:
