Twisty little jungle paths, all alike

It all makes sense now: the arbitrary goals, the murky plotting, the flexible geography. Via TV Tattle, this TeeVee.org article makes it clear that Lost is really a text adventure:

You are lost in the jungle in a maze of twisty little paths, all alike.

Locke is here.

Locke walks off to the west.

You are carrying:
     a plane-scrap shovel
     a backpack
     an empty water bottle
     no tea
     a small metal toy plane
     a gun
     some Arzt on your neck
     an unstable stick of dynamite
Speaking of which, seeing the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie this weekend made me all nostalgic for the Infocom game. (Best visceral nostalgia moment: Hearing the music from the old TV series.) The online Java version has been around for a while now, but it doesn't allow you to save games. However, the BBC has released not one, but two spiffy new illustrated versions. They require Flash, but they let you save games. Share and enjoy!
