An important knitting update

I'd like to say that my neglect of blogging has been because of the important work that I've been doing, but the truth is that mostly I've been lounging about, watching bad toga-based entertainment and eating bon-bons (actually, zucchini bread, but close enough). But, I did accomplish one thing that I know you'll all be thrilled to hear about. I have blogged about making a Harry Potter style scarf, and I have brought it to many a BlogFest to work on. Well, last night I finally finished it. The picture is of the recipient - one husband of mine - wearing his newest and most time-consuming gift.

Because I am mathy, I will tell you the vital statistics of the scarf, which shocked and horrified me, and thus needed to be shared. Jeff wanted a wider scarf than the pattern I linked to, so each row of the scarf is 80 stitches. Each of the alternating-color stripes was 22 rows, and there were 19 stripes. That's a total of 33440 times that I had to make a knit stitch. Yikes!

Someday I'm going to make myself one of the Prisoner of Azkaban style scarves, in Gryffindor colors, but only after the memory of this one fades a little. I'm going to try mittens and a hat next.
